Somehow, Rain

by Loren DiGiorgi

I love putting spoken word to music. The lyrics for this one came to me after I finished recording all of the music. One percussion element I used was sampling the sound of me writing with a pencil. Can you hear it? And for those who are interested in such things, the chime at the beginning of the third verse is my doorbell.

I wished a distant star
And I wondered where you are
I thought I caught a glimpse
Of all that's happened since
And what your life became
But then, somehow rain

So many times, you know
We stopped and could not go
The dreams were far between
The notions never seen
Still, it's all the same
Whatever, somehow rain.

These days, it's just too late
To watch the clock and wait
I felt the season change
I watched the stars arrange
Some day I know you'll see
A worn out memory
Feel it as it wanes
Keep it
Somehow, rain.
